Born in Dorset and raised in London, my artistic practice is dedicated to illustrating everyday life, exemplified by my latest series '30 drawings in 30 days'.
I am absorbed by plein air drawing, observing how natural factors influence the atmosphere of my images. The longer I spend in these environments, the more I become captivated by their constant evolution. Elements such as light, temperature, and sound are unpredictable, and their interactions with people and nature continuously transform the surroundings. As I immerse myself in these changes, I find it fascinating to see how they affect the mood, tone, colour choices, and energy within my drawings.
Location drawing is particularly compelling because it embraces the element of chance. The ever-changing conditions make each image a unique moment in time. I aim to engage my audience through multiple senses by utilising texture and transforming ordinary surroundings into dreamlike worlds. My expressive mark-making imparts a strong sense of energy to my work, with each image seeming like a happenstance in time.

30 Days Drawing Outside
In this project I have drawn over the course of 30 days, the focus always being to draw outside. Drawing in the location I am depicting has always been a necessity for me, as I learn through my environment over the time of the drawing. As it is spring I wanted to dedicate time drawing outside as nature is waking up and is never more vibrant and alive.
I have documented every day on my instagram @ellie.ponte, with videos and photos of the processes.
