Dancing Alone
A short 3D animation based off videos of people dancing on their own.
This project was based off of videos I asked people to send me of themselves dancing alone. I was interesting in how freeing it is to dance when no one is watching and I wanted to explore if this was the same for other people.
I built this 3D character, based off of myself. It was my first armature so I experimented with a few different ways of building it until I came to making the form. I padded the figure out and built the clothes based off of a pyjama set I had. I wanted the character to look comfortable and ready to boogie!
I collected over 10 videos of people dancing on their own. I used snipers from all these videos to experiment with a range of dance moves that people would hopefully relate to. The aim of this film is to show how awkward but freeing it is too dance on your own. As the film progresses, the character gets more comfortable dancing and the dance moves get more and more crazy!
